2005 Hidden Valley Open
Junior Lady's Free
I got there late so I couldn't get myself set up to take notes until the
final flight.
- Anna Malkova (All Year FSC)
- Music from Gladiator. Stepped out of a triple jump,
fast camel spin. She did a straightline step sequence into a double jump
(her footwork was to the same music that Yagudin used for his footwork
sequence in 02) She did catch foot spirals forward and back. Landed a
triple salchow, did a fast layback spin, landed a double lutz a
triple/double combination and a double axel/double toe combination. She
did a split jump with nice height and stretch. She did a Sasha skid.
1st in free and overall
- Caroline Zhang (All Year FSC)
- Music is The Swan. Opened with some very
pretty arm positions. She did a lutz/loop combination, landed a double
axel, fell out of a triple jump. She did a pretty forward inside camel
into a doughnut spin. Fell on another triple, landed a lutz. Did a
change edge spiral and had some spirals with Sasha-esque positions.
Landed a double jump, and a double axel/double loop combination.
Beautiful layback spin, and a very extended fast combination spin. 3rd in free and overall
- Elaina Chu (Peninsula Skating Club)
- Landed a double axel, did a very nice fast, flowing spread eagle
into I think a double salchow, but I can't read my notes very well. Did
a double loop combination but popped the second jump. Nice split jump
good flow coming out of it. Landed a double jump did a stage leap, a
nice ina baur into a double that she stepped out of. Serpentine spiral
postion with many spiral variations. Fell on a salchow and an axel. She
is a fast, flowing skater. 4th in free and
overall.
- Karen Zhou (All Year FSC)
- She landed a double axel a different double jump and another double
axel. She two footed a triple jump, and fell on a salchow. Forward
Inside camel into a Harding spin. Landed a double loop, did a catch foot
layback. Two footed another double jump. Fell on a triple salchow. Her
circular footwork was very good with a lot of difficult steps. I thought
she was going to place higher. 5th in free
and overall.
- Angela Nguyen (Glacier Falls FSC)
- She landed a triple that she sort of spun out of. (I have never
found a way to write about skating without ending sentences in a
preposition.) Landed a triple jump and fell on a salchow. Landed a
double axel. Very good layhback spin with many, well stretched
positions. Catch foot spiral. Landed a double lutz/double toe, and a
double axel/double toe and another double jump. Did a kind of backward
leaning camel spin. She has innovative connecting steps and spin
positions. She deserved to move up and she did. 2nd in free and overall.
