Day 5
Yes I know I have hardly posted here at all. But it is all in a good
cause. Because the skaters only have one official practice a day, they
are arranging practice ice at an arena that is half hour from downtown.
Since I have a rental car I have been drafted into service as chauffeur
to the stars. I am of course more then happy to do it, but it has left
me with little time for internet updates.
The irony is of course I didn't get a bus pass because I refused to give
them my social security number. They won't let me on the bus cause I may
be a threat to the skaters so instead I have the skaters IN MY CAR!!!!
LOL! I love irony.
Junior Lady's Short Program
- Lauren Hennessy
- Music is Clair De Lune. I thought she skated a very
beautiful program, though her jumps were tentative. I liked her skating
very much though. She landed double axel, triple loop/double loop and a
double jump out of steps with her hands above her ahead ala Boitano.
- Kimberly Meissner
- Music is called Sand and Water. She is fast, tiny and
graceful Fell on a triple lutz, landed a triple flip out of footwork,
very good flow on the flip and the double axel. Had some cute steps in
her program. She is in 2nd place.
Tammy Sutan and Michelle Boulos -- Marshall was having a four year old
moment. We had to leave the
arena after Kimmie so I have no notes for these girls.
- Jessica Houston
- Music is Objection. Did a cute and flirty program.
Landed a triple/double combo and the double axel. I have no notes for
her other jump.
- Melissa Telecky
- Music is Lieberman Tango. Poor kid had a rough day. She
landed the double axel, but put her hand down on the triple/double combo
and the double jump out of steps. She has nice extension in her spiral.
- Brianna Perry
- Music is Spider-Man wore a costume with a spider web on
it. She as very fast and really flowed the program together. Landed a
triple/double combo, double axel and double out of steps. She has some
nice transition moves including a stag leap and a split jump.
- Shanell Noji
- Music is called Hawaii. Very big smile, she really
reaches the audience very well. Landed double axel, triple/double combo
and a double out of steps. Ended with a blur scratch. She is in 4th
place.
- Katy Taylor
- Irish Medley - Very nicely choreographed program. She
landed a triple lutz/double toe with a two footed toe. She did a triple
out of steps and a double axel. Nice transitions including a very high
split jump. Excellent footwork, good speed and difficulty. 1st place.
- Erin Reed
- West Side Story - Landed a double axel and a triple
salchow/double toe, great height on the sal. She has a beautiful back in
her sit spin. Smiled a lot. Ended her spiral sequence with a nice split
jump. Landed a double jump out of steps.
- Julian Burns
- Music is Clair Du Lune. Well if you are new to Catslair
then you have missed the Burns-Rave I have been on all autumn. I can't
say enough good things about her skating. I took no notes while she
skated cause I was just enjoying a beautiful, flowing program. She
landed triple loop/double toe, double axel and double out of steps and a
beautiful split jump. She has this amazing expression on her face when
she skates that is absolutely enchanting. She is in 3rd because she
doesn't have the lutz but in my book she is the artistic winner.
- Katie Thordarson
- Music is called Close Without Touching. Landed a
triple/double combo fell on the double axel and landed double out of
steps. Nice height in her flying sit spin.
It was a lovely competition, all the ladies had something worth
watching. Unfortunately Marshall was tired from the pair's free skate
last night. Given how the pairs skated, I wish we had skipped pairs and
just been well rested for the junior lady's. Can't wait for the free.
