2006 Hidden Valley Open

Novice Men Free Skate

We only had one competitor left in this field by the time of the free skate.
Grisha Fournier
He skated to the Tchaikovsky version of Romeo and Juliet which is the only one that should be skated too I think, I hate the Prokfiev. He started out with some pretty arm movements. He did a back spiral into a double axel. He did a couple of cool leaps then went down onto his knee. Fell on a triple jump. In the warm up he did a beautiful triple salchow/double toe, but in the actual program he popped the salchow. He has a fast footwork sequence with more cool leaps in it. He fell out of a flying sit spin. HE did a double loop and two other double jumps. He has nice position in his sit spin.

I didn't get his marks but I would give him high marks for choreography and transitions.

Intermediate Ladies free Skate

I only got the results for the top two, I will update if the results ever get posted on the web.
Nicole Fowler
She skated to a swing medley that included a Charleston. Landed a double lutz/double toe, did a lunge into a double but fell on it, good stretch on the lunge. She did a Bielman spiral into a spread eagle into a single axel. She did a fast ina baur into a double lutz.
Sarah Marron
Skated to Irish music, I think Lord of the Dance. Fell on a lutz, she did a loop/loop but fell on it and fell on something else. Landed a single axel. She has a nice layback spin. Despite her jump problems she smiled and treated us to an exuberant footwork run.
Kristie Baer
Landed a double jump and a single axel, fell on a slachow. She did a gorgeous layback turned into a Bielman spin. Landed a double jump. She did a spiral into an Ina Baur into back catch foot spiral. Did some jump I missed. She has a beautiful layback spin, such a shame that COP made her ruin it by turning it into a Bielman.
Bethany Pulido
She started out with a camel into a doughnut spin. She had jump problems throughout her program but she kept fighting and landed a combination at the end, good for her. She did a very stretched Bielman.
Macy Austria
Skated to the Diamond Commercial music (yes I know it has another name but it will always be the Diamond Commercial to me). She did a great axel with good speed going in and coming out. She landed a double lutz/single toe, a double loop/1/2 loop combination, another double/double combination, another double jump and fell on a lutz.
Deanna Inn
Dramatic presentation. She did a one footed flying sit spin into a pancake position. She flew into a single axel. Landed a double jump, a double/doubletoe/double loop sequence. She is a fast spinner. She landed a double/double combination. She did a shoot the duck lifting her free leg and then stepped into a jump. (I can't describe it very well but it looked very difficult.) She did difficult step sequence but her speed was not good and there was too much arm waving for my tastes. 1st in the free and overall.
Kimberly Baer
She did a lutz/loop combination, I couldn't tell the revolutions. She did a pretty spiral into an axel, popped a loop jump. Landed a double/double combination. She did a nice, fast spread eagle into a combination jump. Landed another double jump.
Iris Chin
She landed a double/double/double loop sequence and an axel. She landed a double/double loop combination. She did a fast Ina Baur into three turns into a loop. She did a layback/catch foot into a Bielman spin. She has good speed, landed another double jump.
Alyssa-Marie Pereslete
Skated to Swan Lake. She landed a double/double combination, a double lutz and a double loop. She did a flying sit spin with lovely position. Landed an axel and a double lutz/double loop. She did a Bielman spiral with good stretch. She did high fast split jumps into jumps I couldn't see clearly. Ended the program with a very stretched Bielman spin, but was behind her music and went over time.
Erika Perry
Music is West Side Story. She did some nice dance moves. She fell on some jump. She did a fast layback spin and a double combination. And unfortunately that is all the notes I have for her. I liked the program but I didn't note the jumps.
Katherine Nguyen
She has nice speed. Landed a double/double combination but the first jump was landed low on the knees. She did a double/1/2 loop/loop sequence. Two footed a lutz, landed another double jump, but fell on something else.
