Danielle Shepard 9th in free and overall
Music was Jesus Christ Superstar. She has good speed. She landed a triple/double combination and popped a lutz, landing facing forward. She did a single axel/double toe and the very cool Shepard sit spin; down very low on the ice with her free leg completely extended. She two footed another triple jump, and landed a double loop. She has a very good change edge spiral with deep edges on both sides. She landed another triple jump and fell on a double axel.
Ye Bin Mok 6th in the free 8th overall
Music is Bolero. She did that beautiful lutz of hers with a long deep outside edge, but it was only a double. All her jumps were singled or doubled but the rest of her program was beautiful, fast, smooth and lovely moves. She looked much happier and her skating had much more expression than she used to. She did a beautiful spiral held for the length of the rink, a lovely spread eagle and Moves In The Field that make you say "wow."
Tenile Victorsen 4th in free 5th overall
Skated to a Rachmaninoff Concerto. She landed a triple salchow and a triple/double combination and another triple jump. She skated with great speed and elegant flow. Singled an axel and fell on another triple and another triple salchow. Held onto a double axel. Beautiful layback spin.
Shannel Noji 12th in free and overall.
I like Shannel a lot, she is a sweet girl with great personality and expression on the ice. She also has great speed and flow. But her jumps were not there on Sunday night.
Elizabeth Lim 10th in the free and overall
She did a very nice Ina Baur. She landed a triple salchow/double toe, a split jump and a double jump, and a double axel. She did a spread eagle into an axel but fell. She fell out of another salchow. She dida layback/catch foot/Bielman spin. She landed a double/double/double loop combination and a double lutz/double loop. She has good speed in her spins and she maintains the speed through the spin.
Kristy Evans 8th in free and 7th overall
She skated to a tango. She landed a triple loop and a double axel/double toe with good height. She landed another double jump and a triple. Sorry I didn't write more but I was trying to eat and write at the same time. (Hey there is so long you can deny a skating fan food.)
Karen Zhou 2nd in free and 3rd overall
She landed a triple/double. She has good speed. She landed a triple salchow/double loop, another triple jump and a double axel. She landed another triple and a triple salchow. She had good speed in her spiral sequence. Skated with a big grin on her face. Ended with a double axle/double toe.
Amy Evidente 7th in free 6th overall
Last spring at EPCOT I thought the fireworks music for Illumination would make a great skating program. Well Amy must have read my mind because that is what she skated to. It is fast music and she kept up the pace with a "wow" fast program. She landed a triple toe/double toe and a double lutz. Zooming out of the jumps. She fell on something and landed another triple toe, fell on a salchow. Landed that great double axel of hers, but stepped out of another double axel. Fell on her footwork.
Becky Hughes First in free and Our Regional Champ!
She started out her program with quite a mischievous grin. She landed a triple with great flow. She landed a double lutz/double toe, tried a triple loop and landed facing forward. She really attacked the double axel, and held onto a lutz. She landed a triple/double combination. She has a nice spiral sequence, and fun, dramatic footwork sequence. She landed a double axel/double toe combination. She has much improved spirals this year, as well as greater energy and attack. She was good last year and this year she has improved dramatically into a real powerhouse. You folks in Washington and Oregon go see her at Coasts.
Crystal Shum 5th in free and 4th overall
Some Chinese program - Landed a triple/double with good height, held onto another triple jump. She stepped out of a triple salchow. She had some interesting dance moves in her program and really stretched out spirals. Landed a single axel and a triple salchow and two double jumps.
Jessica Martino 3rd in free and 2nd overall
Dead tired when Jessica came out, but she really made me sit up and take notice. She landed a double axel and a triple jump, but popped a salchow. She is very expressive and musical. She did really good Ina Baur very stretched with playful expression. Popped a lutz, landed a double loop landed I think a triple jump. She has big personality!
