SVO 2003 Day Two continued - August 15, 2003

Sr. Ladie's Short Program

Olivia Olsen
Did a change edge spiral. Wore a really pretty dress, white halter dress with a yellow trim on the skirt. Double loop/double toe combination. Fell on a triple jump. Her axel turned into a waltz jump. Pretty spiral and spin positions.
Mia Ann Cromatry
Double out of steps was nice, she fell on a triple jump I assume was meant to be her combination. Singled the axel. She has nice stretch in her camel spin.
Anah Lee
Triple/double combination. She fell on the double axel and a triple salchow. Did a Sasha spiral with her leg held up and front of her then a three turn into a forward spiral, very nice. If she ever makes it to Nationals Dick Button will babble on endlessly about her beautiful back.
Amy Evidente
Skated to some sort of Tango. Fell on a triple jump, popped something, and fell on the double axel. She has a fast camel spin with nice stretch, other spins were fast as well.

Now begins the search for the missing stuffed cat. Richard called me to say that Marshall was missing his stuffed cat, Momma-Kitty, and that Marshall was sure he left it at the rink. Note Marshall is a week shy of four now, he is not good at remembering. But daddy is not good at understanding Marshall's limitations. So I direct search over cell phone while going through the rinks lost and found and can't take notes on Abigail Alfajora and completely miss Katherine Specht and Laura Lipetsky. Momma-Kitty shows up in the house where she has been all along. Sigh and we join Korean skater Yea-Ji Shin in action

Yea-Ji Shin
I came in just in time to see her land some triple jump. She got a big smiles on her face that lasted the rest of the program, lovely graceful skating. Wish I had seen her whole program.
Joan Cristobal
Landed triple lutz/double toe and another triple jump. She started to go up into her double axel and never left the ice just cause she spun around on one leg. She is as always a very graceful skater with lovely arm movements.
Felicia Beck
Wow! Whatever "star quality" is, this kids got it. She skated to All That Jazz. I assume this music will be used a lot this year, but no one is going to use it as well as Felicia. She really throws herself into the music and brings the character to life so well. Amazing flexibility in spins and spirals. She landed a triple lutz/double toe, (much improved over past years.) But unfortunately fell on a triple out of steps and double axel. Still a fun program to watch.
Kim Ryan
She landed a triple loop with extra turns before the double toe. She did a double out of steps. I spaced out on what happened to her axel. Very long lined graceful and expressive skater.
