Sight lines at Culver City make it difficult to see jump entries or
landings. The rink was jam packed with spectators eager to see 2007 Jr.
World Champion, so note taking was not the best.
- Laney Diggs
- Laney is one of the most expressive skaters I have ever seen. She
skates with great joy and makes watching her a truly enjoyable
experience. She starts out her program in an opening pose with the
sweetest smile on her face. She landed a triple lutz/double toe, I think
a triple flip, might have been toe, and a double axel. She has lovely
postitions in her spins and spirals and interprets music very well. The
program was very pretty and her transitions very smooth. 3rd
- Tashe Smith
- Tashe had a very good, very musical jazz program. Lots of good
interpretation of the music. But alas her jump weren't with her. She
fell on the lutz and the solo triple, double axel was fine. But she also
had a trip in her footwork. 11th
- Kristy Evans
- Kristy has nice line. She landed triple/double combo and a double
jump. Her sit spin position is excellent and she has beautiful spiral
positions. She did a spiral right into a double axel. 12th
- Jessica Houston
- She landed one triple jump and two footed a loop, but fell on a
double axel. She is a very delicate and graceful skater lovely to watch.
10th
- Stephanie Dal Porto
- She did three turns into a triple loop. Her double aexl was
excellent with great height. She had a double/double combo. 14th
- Stacey Rude
- One of the many skaters from Canada, like most of the Canadians she
has realy good edges. We need to send some of our kids up to Canada to
learn edging. She popped a loop. Landed a double axel and a triple
salchow on two feet. Very nice positions on her ending spin. 21st
- Erin Reed
- Great expression, one of the most musical skaters I have ever seen.
Nice flow, her jumps had problems popped the axel, fell on a salchow and
put a hand down on a triple jump. She has great presentation and musical
interpretation. 18th
- Nina Lam
- My notes are even more scribbled than usual at this event and I can
barely read half of them. Nina did land a double axel and two footed
something. She has very exteneded spiral and the rest I can't read.
17th
- Caroline Zhang
- She landed triple lutz/triple toe, triple toe and a double axel. She
is faster this year, more graceful, more mature, more expressive. She
has taken her skating to another level this year. She has added some new
moves including three turns done in a sit spin position. She definitely
looks ready to take on the World in LA. 1st
Unfortunately after Caroline left about a 1/3 of the
audience left. While this made me more comfortable I thought it was very
rude to the other skaters, saying in effect they didn't count. Well the
people who left punished themselves because they missed some very good
skating.
- Olivia Olsen
- Music was The Felling Begins. Olivia has
lovely lines and holds her spirals very long, I am so glad that COP is
rewarding that now. She landed two triple jumps but stepped out of her
double axel. 16th
- Kaylin Stuckel
- I am sorry all I have in my notes is she fell on a double axel.
22nd
- Julia Mitchell
- She has a beautiful layback spin. She is fast with good ice
coverage. The only jump note I have is she fell on a double axel. 23rd
- Tenile Victorsen
- She landed a triple lutz/double toe, fell on I think a triple flip
and landed a double axel. She is fast, has beautiful lines. The edges in
her spiral sequence and her change edge spiral are very nice. She has
great stretch in her moves and strong edging. 9th
- Dallas Daniel
- I can not read my notes on what happened to her lutz and she fell on
another jump. She has nice speed and attack on her double axel. 15th
- Victoria Muniz
- Fell on one triple, landed a triple flip and a double axel.
Excellent flow out of her jumps. 8th
- Anna Malkova
- She landed a triple jump and a triple lutz/double toe I have no
notes about her axel. She ended with a good old fashioned blur scratch
spin. She has much improved her style from last year, she is not jerky
and flows much better this year. 2nd
- Alexandria Simon
- Very nicely held spirals, pretty positions in her spirals and spins
and she has nice expression. I didn't take any jump notes for her. 19th
- Karina Thimester
- She did a triple/double combo with a hand down on the triple. She
landed a triple salchow and stepped out of a double axel. 13th
- Priscella Chan
- She is fast. She landed a triple salchow. She did a spread eagle
into three turns into a double loop/double loop combination. Two footed
a single axel. 20th
- Sophia Adams
- Sophia is a lovely skater, moves very gracefully and has gorgeous
expression. She is very musical and has a beautiful spiral sequence. She
did three turns into a triple loop but fell and I have no other jump
notes for Sophia. 6th
- Karen Zhou
- She stepped out of a triple/double combo, landed a triple lutz and
did a spread eagle into a double axel. She is fast, covers the ice very
well. She has fast spins with very stretched positions. She is very
expressive a lot of fun to watch. 4th
Somehow I didn't take any note for Angelynn Nguyen who was 5th in the short. I can tell you she is a very
fast, very aggressive skater who really attacks jumps.
